1.  Do I have to be a member to ride?

We do offer non-member riding which is limited to off peak hours and periods – generally weekday mornings. We do offer other times and days in our quieter periods.

2.  How do I become a member of the club?

Currently, we have a waitlist for beginners and families at the club. If you wish to ride on a regular basis, you can download the membership form found on this site and return to us with a non-refundable deposit payment of $100.

3.  Can I ride regularly as a non-member?

Yes, but non-members may not book regular lessons and pay a different amount to members.

4.  Is trekking available at the centre?

No, we do not offer trekking at the centre.

5.  Are your instructors qualified?

All our staff hold top level qualifications. All teaching staff have either represented their country in their sport or have BHS qualifications. Please visit out instructors section for full details on individual staff qualifications. All our staff are expected to take BHS qualifications – this includes the stable staff (grooms).

6.  What are BHS qualifications and what is a BHS certified yard?

We are a BHS certified yard, have our WTT certification (Where to Train) and our instructors are trained under the BHS training programme.
The British Horse Society is widely considered to demand the highest level of horsemanship to attain their accreditation for yards. The same applies to BHS accredited instructors . The teaching qualifications demand an exceptionally high level of horsemanship both on and off the horse. For full details, please visit the BHS website.

7.  Can we come and visit the centre?

If you are interested in riding or joining the centre, please do come for a tour. Please call us first to make an appointment. The centre is not open to the public – i.e. you are no able to ‘pop in’ and pet the horses and ponies.

8.  What age do you recommend children start to ride?

It depends on the child. As a rule, we recommend six years old as an ideal time to start riding. Having said this, we teach some excellent four and five year olds. If you want your children to experience riding, we suggest you book our lead rein experience lessons which are 20 minutes and offer a fantastic introduction to riding and horses. Gaining confidence around horses is a very important basis for learning to ride.

9.  Can beginner adults have lessons?

Yes, absolutely.

10.  Do you have a riding weight limit?

Yes, you must weigh no more than 180lbs. We weigh all riders on their first visit.

11.  Can non-members participate in your camps and hang-out days?

Yes, but children must have an assessment lesson prior to joining the camps. This is not necessary for hang out days. Members take priority when booking these activities and non- members cannot have their spots confirmed until one week prior to the first day.

12.  Are you associated with the HKJC?

No, we are a privately owned organization. We are, however, supported by the HKJC for the health and well-being of our horses in the form of vet and horse shoeing services. We are also delighted to home several HKJC race horses that are re-trained. We have had great success with this.

13.  How many horses and ponies do you have?

We generally run at 14-16 ponies and 30-32 horses. A full list of our horses and ponies is available under the Horse and Pony section of the site.

14.  Do you offer livery for horses?

Yes, we have a ˝ livery programme. As a rule, we do not offer full livery but you can contact our Managing Director, Nicky Loiterton, to discuss your needs.

15.  Do you have ex-racehorses?

Because of poor post racing training, people all over the world have experienced ‘flighty’ or highly strung ex-racehorses. The majority of racehorses are thoroughbreds first and foremost. We do have thoroughbred horses that have raced in their career. These horses are completely re-trained to become excellent competition and pleasure riding horses. Most people that have owned a thoroughbred horse find it very difficult to switch back to other breeds once they get the thoroughbred bug.

16.  How long will we be on the waitlist for membership?

It depends on your level of riding and how flexible you are. The more flexible you are, the faster we can get you onto a horse/pony!

17.  Do you offer birthday parties to non-members?

Yes we offer both riding and non-riding parties. Please click here for more information.

18.  Do you do school groups?

Yes, we have a programme for school groups. Please click here for more information.

19.  Can we visit the centre if we are not riding?

We offer coffee mornings each weekday between 8am-12pm. This is aimed at Mothers with young children. There is a small charge for coffee and snacks and we are delighted to introduce the children to a pony. The centre is not open to the public however.
